This is a program that was originally founded to get WWII veterans to the WWII memorial in DC just after it opened in 2006.

It had started locally in NC but began to grow and now is nationwide and has started flying Korean and Vietnam veterans as well (hardly any WWII veterans still living).

A chapter of Honor Flights recently was started in Santa Rosa that covers all counties in Rotary District 5130. Bill will provide details about this great program.

Flying Tails Animal Rescue by Ken Wayne
Ken Wayne, Flying Tails Animal Rescue Flying Tails Animal Rescue by Ken Wayne Feb. 21, 2025 12:15 p.m.
Ken Wayne started his broadcasting career in 1979 as a Navy journalist in the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. He served as a TV and radio broadcaster in Adak, Alaska and Subic Bay, Philippines. He was also the journalist and ship's photographer, among other shipboard duties, aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Biddle and participated in months long deployments in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.

After his honorable discharge in 1985, he started his civilian news career at a small station in Palm Springs and eventually worked his way through the smaller markets of Chico and Fresno to Los Angeles and Sacramento and ultimately home to the Bay Area. Ken worked as a reporter and anchor at KTVU for 26 years, covering everything from earthquakes and fires to the 9-11 attack in New York and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.  In 2018 he accepted the position of main evening anchor at KRON 4 and worked alongside Pam Moore, Gary Radnich, Vicki Liviakis and Catherine Heenan.

At the end of his second contract at KRON Ken decided to pursue his passion of telling stories about his animal rescues through his non-profit called Flying Tails.  Ken is currently building a small fleet of aircraft and pilots to better respond to getting at-risk animals to safety and recently announced a partnership with PBS to showcase those rescues to a national audience.

Japanese American Internment: A Test of Loyalty & Courage by Gladys Horiuchi
Gladys Horiuchi, Japanese American Internment Japanese American Internment: A Test of Loyalty & Courage by Gladys Horiuchi Feb. 28, 2025 12:15 p.m.
Gladys Horiuchi has worked as a communications professional for the California wine and health care industries for more than 40 years. A native
of Salt Lake City, Utah, she is a fourth-generation Japanese American. Horiuchi was originally a teacher and job counselor in Salt Lake before
relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1978.
When her father passed away a few years ago, she put together some family history on her father’s life, including his time in an internment camp
during World War II and his service in U.S. Military Intelligence. When she gave a presentation on this family history to her Toastmasters Club, she
learned that a number of people did not know about this chapter of American history. As a result, Horiuchi has given her presentation to
several local high school history classes and elsewhere.
Sebastopol has a unique history related to Japanese American internment. Horiuchi will include how Sebastopol residents helped Japanese Americans
during this dark time. Her presentation, “Japanese American Internment:A Test of Loyalty and Courage,” is a personal story of patriotism, loyalty,
endurance and friendship.
