Traditional Medicinals

ROOTED IN PURPOSE

We believe medicinal herbs hold the power to create change.

In any great story, chance plays a vital role. In the late 60s, the stars aligned when herbalist Rosemary Gladstar met community activist and environmentalist Drake Sadler. Entrenched in the spirit of the age, and their pursuit of healthful alternatives to the mainstream — lifestyle, natural foods, and herbal remedies — they planted the seeds for their shared vision of a new kind of herbalism. In 1974, they founded Traditional Medicinals. Nearly fifty years later, we’re going strong — partnering with suppliers and sourcing communities around the world to bring the best ingredients to our products and to you.

Traditional Medicinals has always been a company rooted in purpose. Working with our partners, suppliers, and sourcing communities, we want to create a positive impact on the world. As a certified B Corp and a registered California benefit corporation we continue to improve our partner-centered, people-first approach to produce an engaged, vibrant community that enhances the well-being for everyone we work with.

Tom Herlihy Joins TM as Sr. Plant Manager

We are excited to announce the addition of Tom Herlihy as the Sebastopol Sr. Plant Manager. Tom is a seasoned CPG operations leader with 25+ years’ relevant experience, including classical operations training within both large CPGs (Curation Foods), where he learned fundamentals of manufacturing and strategic leadership in a highly resourced environment, as well as most recently with a smaller company, Cali’Flour Foods where he was the VP of Operations.

Tom has a BS in Business Administration from California Polytechnic and is certified as a Lean/6 Sigma Black Belt. He staunchly believes in keeping continuous improvement measures in mind as he assesses and leads day-to-day operations. He also has led managed sustainability programs focused on waste reduction or elimination.

Tom lives in Santa Rosa and looks forward to visiting his second home in Arroyo Grande, CA, periodically. Tom has been proudly married 21 years and has 4 kids and one grandson. He is fluent in Spanish and English (his wife is a native Spanish speaker, and their kids are bilingual). In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and ocean rock fishing.
